2009 Florida Legislative Bills of Interest to Arts, Arts Education, and Cultural Industries As of August 19, 2009
Status of State Budget: The Florida Legislature approved the state's FY 2009-2010 budget. Here is the link to Florida's Fiscal Year 2009-2010 budget. Governor Crist approved the budget with a couple of vetoes, none effecting the cultural community.
Major Changes in Budget line items for arts and cultural resources for FY 2009-2010: The arts and cultural appropriation line items we've known for decades are now consolidated into one line item in the state budget called Cultural and Museum Grants at $2.5 million under the Division of Cultural Affairs. Under the Division of Historical Resources is $550,000 for Historic Preservation Grants ($125,000 of which goes to the Florida Holocaust Museum).
